The moment
An ag exemption number exists for one reason: to buy feed, seed, fertilizer, fencing, machinery, trailers and farm-building materials without sales tax. So the date it's issued is the week the buying season starts, in writing, from the state.
The Stand tracks new numbers as they're issued and places each one in its county. Operations registered under a business name come with a full record. People registered under their own name are counted and never named.

Questions buyers ask
- Why are individuals counted but not named?
- Most registrations are people under their own name. We count them and show where they're, and we never publish a name. The named list is operations registered as businesses.
- Does a new number mean orders are coming?
- It's permission to buy farm supplies tax free. Some operations register early and wait a season. The date tells you the season is close.
- Can I see it by county?
- Yes. Every number is placed in its county. The last pull touched 244 of them.
